What Are Advantages of Using Markers in Drawing

Hey guys! Let's talk about something about Marker pens.

We can see many colorful pages in daily life, such as comic books. How did they become colored?

Marker pens play an important role. Such as Naruto, Gintama, One Piece, and so on, most of them are colored by marker pens because their ink dries quickly and produces a lot of water, convenient for large-area coloring (painting).

In the beginning, marker pens are used in marking just like their name. But designers of interior and exterior design, industrial design find marker pens are very suitable to draw quickly.

Marker pens become popular in artists gradually.

Watercolor is not easy to dry, and color leads grainy, for flat coating, marker is undoubtedly the most convenient.

There are three types of markers by ink:

Alcoholic, oily, water-based

Oily is harmful to the human body and has withdrawn from the market.

Alcohol is now used instead of oil; most markers we see are alcoholics. So there are only oily and water-soluble.

There is some difference between oily and watery:

▶ Oil (alcoholic)

Ingredients: methanol, pigment

Features: Colors cannot be blended

Advantages: Waterproof, quick-drying, easy to stack colors, paper can not be a ball, not easy to halo, good color mixing effect, high color saturation, more vivid, uniform coloring with fewer traces of brush strokes.

Disadvantages: pungent. Methanol is used in industrial alcohol. Fake alcohol is made with industrial alcohol, which can cause blindness and liver disease.

Of course, we use it to paint, but not to eat. Toxicity is there, do not use it for a long time. Ventilate when using!

Paper: Sulfuric acid paper, paper for markers, original manga paper. If you don't know what paper to use, use thicker paper!

▶ Water-based

Ingredients: water, pigment

Features: The colors are compatible with each other, and the color changes are various. If you apply it with a water pan, the effect is similar to watercolor.

Advantages:not pungent, can be stacked, the color saturation is relatively low, no oily bright.

Disadvantages: not waterproof, easy to faint, repeated overlapping colors will be dirty, poor color mixing effect, drawing paper is easy to break, paper surface is easy to the ball, easy to produce strokes. Because the colors blend and change a lot, water is more difficult to grasp than oily.

Paper:coated paper, cardboard, comic original paper, marker paper. Ibid, thicker paper. A comparison, Oily (alcoholic) markers have more advantages. Therefore, it is more oily than water-based on the market And, beginners recommend using oily! Marker pen consists of 3 standard tips: fine, brush, broad

  • Fine Tip
  • Brush Tip
  • Broad Tip

It is a classic tip of a marker pen, which can be painted over a large area, or you can use lines at edges and corners.

So in three types of writing, Broad tip is the most commonly used, fine tip and brush tip are easy to use, but the coloring is not convenient.

Different nibs have different uses, the fine tip and broad tip suitable for designers, architects, the brush tip is suitable for drawing comics and illustrations.
